Christmas is coming and everywhere you can breathe an air of celebration: colored lights, decorative balls, smell of mulled wine and so so forth!
In a so strong Christmas atmosphere, it’s really impossible not to be inspired when decorating your homes. But how to do it right?
Just follow a few simple guidelines, let’s see them together!
Every house has its own style and it’s essential for you to respect it! Therefore, the style to follow for decorating your home on Christmas time must be perfectly in according to the existing one.
For example, if your house is furnished in a classic way, you mustn’t buy shabby-chic decorations because they would turn out to be extremely out of context. The Christmas accessories should be taken in order to complete your house and not to create contrasts.
Another basic rule is: do not overfill!
The decorations should not occupy the spaces but, on the contrary, should be well arranged. Find the best and well visible corners and fill the empty spaces. And, if your house is of small dimensions, don’t exaggerate! Try to buy everything in the right proportions: a little Christmas tree and not too bulky decorations are useful to avoid making the rooms stifling.
Three are the things that cannot miss: a bright Christmas tree, a beautiful centerpiece and many scented candles. Your home will have to spread light and color, but not only!
Your sense of smell must be satisfied as well: therefore, don’t miss to choose a scent that is appropriate to the Christmas atmosphere. The most indicated essences in this period are pine, cinnamon and citrus.
Remember to replace your house textiles. In the kitchen remove the old pot holders and replace them with a Christmas version. The same thing goes for pillows, covers and towels.
Place some little decorative details in the other rooms of the house, and not only in the living room and the dining room, in order to give continuity to all the spaces.
If you decide to create home made decorations, remember to use the typical flowers and plants of this period: Poinsettias, fir branches, acorns, pine cones, holly and mistletoe. Your house will be even more beautiful if rich in natural elements!
Use only the colors that usually are associated to Christmas, trying not to mix them too much. Gold, red, silver, blue, white or green? The important thing is that the all the decorations respect the main colors used, without creating a mix of tones too much different among themselves.
Now you’re ready to decorate your home in a perfect Christmas style.
One last suggestion? Do it with the right musical background: there’s nothing better than let be inspired by the best known Christmas songs!
We wish you all happy Holidays!
